Allegra Herman is a native of New York City. She began training in ballet at the age of 6 at both Manhattan Youth Ballet and the School of American Ballet where she performed in numerous productions with the New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center. She was honored to be the recipient of a New York Dance and Performance “Bessie” Award in 2009. She is a graduate of LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts where she majored in drama. Allegra has studied contemporary for many years primarily under Brice Mousset and began dancing with his company, OUI DANSE, in 2014. Allegra is also a member of Trainor Dance under artistic director Caitlin Trainor who was recently named 25 To Watch by Dance Magazine. She furthered her contemporary training at the Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive and at Springboard Danse Montreal. She was honored to perform with Aspen Santa Fe Ballet in their 2015 Nutcracker season.
Allegra is currently on the first national tour of the 2015 broadway revival Fiddler on the Roof as a dancer swing and understudy for the roles of Chava, Shprintze and Bielke. When not touring, Allegra is completing a degree in French Language and Literature at Columbia University.
